Presented in conjunction with the annual Sundance Square Car & Culture Show, a lowrider festival in the heart of Fort Worth, Hecho a Mano offers a glimpse into the makings of a loving celebration. Featuring works of paper, textiles, and other handmade works that you’d see alongside a neighborhood lowrider show in a school’s parking lot, in a family’s backyard for a birthday, or for a communion celebration, these items appear as craft, costumes, or even décor. But each has a long history of skill, heritage, and tradition that you can’t duplicate without the spirit and heart of fine art. These works cannot be created with a prompt submission or ordered next day delivery, their knowledge has been passed down, and hecho a mano. On view through November 22^nd.
